Events in Mumbai - Fight against child labour with CRY and Phoenix Marketcity Kurla from 20 to 23 November 2014, 11 am onwards

Mumbai,19th November 2014 : Our country has an estimated 10.12 million (Census 2011) children who work as child labourers. The basic rights of children are exploited when they, instead of studying in schools, are made to work in harsh environments which affects their physical and mental well-being.

This year on International Children’s Day, Phoenix Marketcity, Kurla associates with the CRY — Child Rights and You in the fight against Child Labour and supports Project Unlearn, an initiative to end child labour for 28,588 children across CRY-supported project areas. The aim is to free children from the shackles of child labour and put them back into schools.

CRY will create a 20 X 20 ft. installation of a child’s face at Phoenix Marketcity, Kurla with raw-material elements from industries that children are involved in such as bricks, fireworks, brooms, bolts, buttons, coal, glass etc. with the aim to sensitise people towards the grim realities of child labour and seek support to stop this evil.

The installation will be open for viewing at the mall from 20th to 23rd November 2014. You can extend your support by donating to this cause.
