Mumbai, 18th April 2014: If you have the passion for dance, then Phoenix Marketcity, Kurla will give you the right platform to showcase your best moves on stage. The mall will celebrate India’s First Dance Week for the very first time in the city from 25th to 29th April 2014 that will see participants coming from different parts of the city to set fire on the stage with their breath-taking moves. The mall will organize a reality competition which will be on the lines of popular dance shows like Dance India Dance and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa but will provide an opportunity to one and all to be a participant and audience for this unique dance fest. Each performance at the festival will be judged and trained by none other than Sandip Soparrkar, one of the leading choreographers of our country.

The Dance Week will begin with a call for auditions on 20th April where anyone who would like to participate in the competition will be auditioned by the panel judges like Deepak Mazumdar, Vijayshree Chaudhary, Brian Fernandez and Sandip Soparrkar. Dance enthusiasts will also have a unique opportunity to learn different dance forms like Indian folk, classical, salsa, ballroom, bachata, contemporary, hip-hop, bollywood style and more.

Additional Details-

The procedure to participate - The people participating in the competition can register themselves and give the audition on 20th April 2014 and showcase their dance performance of the their interest of genre. If they are selected, they shall be going to the next round for the performance during the dance week

Fees - No fee involved, it’s for anyone and everyone

The competition criteria - Participants can register and compete in solo, couples and groups

Age group - There is no age limit

Workshops - The workshops will be conducted by the choreographers in their respective genre of expertise, for example, Sandip will teach Ballroom, Vijayshree will teach folk, Deepak Mazumdar will teach Classical and so

Performance - The choreographers, the students and the teams associated with the choreographers will be putting up performances at the dance week

Event flow - The event will be of two hours each day and will have random performances by the choreographers and their teams, performances by the competitors and the training sessions conducted by the choreographers for the workshops
