High Street Phoenix adds a spice of contemporary music festivals to your Diwali Celebrations on October 17th & 18th at the Courtyard

Mumbai, 13th October, 2014: How about a cool kickstart to your Diwali celebrations? Drifting away from all things traditional about this festival, High Street Phoenix, one of India’s most iconic luxury shopping destinations, will be hosting a one-of-a-kind music festival with Mumbai’s top DJs coming together to enthral the shoppers and music lovers. Handpicked artists like DJ Mihir Ganatra, DJ Swap, DJ Kumar Swamy MADOC, Jay Weather, DJ Pramod Sippy and DJ Aman Nagpal along with the very talented percussionists like Rohin Puri, Tarang Singhal and Faizan Hussain will be performing live on 17th and 18th October between 6 pm and 10 pm at the Courtyard of High Street Phoenix.

Come Friday, the mall will be buzzing with the sounds of the latest in commercial music with artists like DJ Swap of Trilogy fame, DJ Jay Weather of Li Bai and Exo fame, DJ Tarang, a young but very talented percussionist who has wowed many all over the city and at a few international clubs, DJ Mihir who’s enthralled many at Wink, Tilt All Day, etc. Playing alongside these fun DJs will also be Rohin Puri who specialises in making music with kitchen instruments! Cool huh? Among these much talented artistes will be the mastermind of Gaurav Bhambri, a video jockey who brings together photography, videography and technology to give you visual effects better than music itself!

Commenting on the festival, Mr. Rajendra Kalkar, Senior Centre Director, The Phoenix Mills Limited, said, “We are very excited about our new ventures this month. We have received a tremendous response to our events and the most recent Midnight Campaign leading customers to shop at late hours after work. With the festivities in full swing, we have put together something to cater to the city’s party hoppers and music lovers while also enhancing a shopper’s experience at the mall. This event will re-define the nightlife destination offerings in the city.”

High Street Phoenix has become a party hopper’s favourite destination with a variety of options under one roof, available until midnight on weekends starting this October. The mall is open to its patrons until 11:30 pm on Friday and Saturday this entire season of celebrations.

1) Rohin Puri - This powerhouse percussionist has become a name to reckon with in the music fraternity owing to his ability to make music with Kitchen instruments coupled with fusion influences.

2) DJ Mihir Ganatra - Specializing in diverse genres like House,Techno and Psy Chill, Mihir personally programs live sets accompanied by his team of percussionists/ Saxophonists/ Sitar players. Over the years he has been the resident DJ at Li Bai, Dome, Ellipses, Wink and Balagan Brunches.

3) DJ Jay Weather - Having begun his DJ'ing career in London, Jay Weather, a popular name on Beatport, moved to Mumbai in 2012 and was the resident DJ at LIV and currently spins at Li Bai.

4) Madoc - Anuraag Chadha a.k.a Madoc is among the frontrunners in becoming one of the pioneers of ‘South Asia’s House Music Scene’. Ever since 2009 he has taken residence as the DJ at Wink, Taj Presidency, Mumbai.

5) Faizan Hussain - A known percussionist, Faizan is the grandson of the legendary Ustad Allarakha and nephew of the living legends Ustad Zakir Hussain, Taufiq Qureshi and Fazal Qureshi. He has also collaborated with various Bollywood Music Directors and has played in various popular Bollywood film songs and background scores (Saanwariya, Parzania, Jab We Met, Life in a Metro & others).

6) Tarang Singhal - Playing under the moniker of Mental Martians at various Indian and International venues like Sunburn & Atlantis in Dubai, Tarun Singhal is proficient with world percussion instruments, specializing in playing the Tabla, Darbuka, Djembe, Bongo, Drums and other improvised percussion.
