~High Street Phoenix hosts Red Bull Indus Trail 2013 from 10th to 13th November – India’s first national parkour championship~

If you are an adrenalin junkie who loves watching free running and free body obstacle jumps, then head straight to High Street Phoenix from 10th to 13th November as the popular destination centre hosts the Red Bull Indus Trail 2013, India’s first ever national Parkour championship. Parkour is a holistic training discipline using running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, jumping, rolling and quadrupedal movement, developed from obstacle course training. The idea of such a championship stemmed from the desire of today’s youth to use the erstwhile historic textile mill of South Bombay creatively. 100 athletes have been selected from all across India through extensive qualifiers and these athletes will participate in this four-day long Grunge Master class at High Street Phoenix.

Practitioners of parkour aim to quickly and efficiently overcome obstacles in their environment, using only their bodies and their surroundings to propel themselves. The idea is to try and maintain as much momentum as is possible in a safe manner. Parkour is non-competitive. It may be performed on an obstacle course, but is usually practiced in a creative, and sometimes playful, reinterpretation or subversion of urban spaces. Parkour involves seeing one's environment in a new way, and imagining the potentialities for movement around it.

This sport is a definite treat for the eyes and with Red Bull to jazz up the event with the presence of professional parkour athletes and some pumping music, there is no way you should miss being a part of such an extravaganza.
