19th September 2016, Mumbai: As we come towards the end of monsoon, High Street Phoenix is back with the most popular monthly musical property, AWESTRUNG for all the music enthusiasts this September! To kick start the new edition, your favourite lifestyle destination is hosting India’s oldest and most loved band, ‘Parikrama’ at the AWESTRUNG. Enchanting their fans, the 25 year old, Delhi based rock and roll band will be on a two city tour celebrating their anniversary where the band will perform in Mumbai at High Street Phoenix on 30th September 2016, and in Pune on 1st October at Phoenix Marketcity, 6.30 pm onwards. To open the act in Mumbai, the alternative rock band, Anand Bhaskar Collective will play some of the grooviest melodies infusing with Indian Classical music.

A monthly musical property that started in early 2015, AWESTRUNG, in association with Pepsi MTV Indies and Radio Mirchi, has been instrumental in bringing diverse genres of music and some of the country’s finest musicians, closer to the masses. In the year 1991, the 6 piece band was formed by Subir Malik for a 4 month music project while he and the other members were in college. After completing his studies, Subir had planned to join his family business quitting music. However, for the love of music, Subir and his friends could not give up on the band and juggled between office and music for almost 16 years! Post that, each of the members gave up their respective jobs and devoting full time to Parikrama.

The band believes in giving out their music for free, hence it does not have any policies against their music being copied and distributed. They have made their music available for download on their official website and have had millions of downloads from their site and other related pages. Parikrama has never recorded an album of their own, however they did release a free multimedia CD of their singles and videos in 2001. The first song "Xerox" was named ‘The face of Indian rock'. In 1995, they released their first hit single "Till I'm No One Again" which was among thirteen other songs chosen from the demos sent by a hundred and fifty other bands in the country for The Great Indian Rock, volume 1- a compilation album. Currently the band comprises of Nitin Malik (lead vocals), Sonam Sherpa (lead guitars), Saurabh Choudhary (guitar), Subir Malik (organist, synthesizers), Gaurav Balani (bass guitar) and Srijan Mahajan (drums). On the occasion of their 25th anniversary, Parikrama will take you back to the nostalgic era of their first song ‘Xeror’ which will be a reversion by the band. Opening the act, Anand Bhaskar Collective’s music is characterized by a straight-up groove and melody centric alternative rock sound. The band emphasizes a lot on song structures and fuse Indian Classical Elements with their dominant Alternative Rock soundscape. Anand Bhaskar Collective works equally hard to pen strikingly relevant lyrics that complement their music in an easy and comprehensible manner. They have performed at various venues like the Little Door, High Spirits (Pune), and events like MTV Indies, McDowell's Signature Expression, Radio Mirchi Indie Star, Rolling Stone Sage etc.
