March 2016, Mumbai: High Street Phoenix is all set to host Lucky Ali, one of the most prominent music artists from the music Industry who is known for his off- beat, soulful and melodious voice, at the upcoming edition of AWESTRUNG on 25th March 2016. Kick-starting AWESTRUNG will be Rang, a versatile six-member band from Mumbai that will be performing a variety of genres.

A monthly musical property that started in early 2015, AWESTRUNG, in association with Pepsi MTV Indies, Furtados and Radio Mirchi, has been instrumental in bringing diverse genres of music and some of the country’s finest musicians, closer to the masses. Entry to Awestrung is Free.

Lucky Ali is famous for his distinct style, his unique voice and the ballad style of singing. The two decade old, Bollywood/pop sensation recently sang ‘Safarnama’ for the film Tamasha which was one of the hits at the bollywood chartbuster. His last album Raasta Man was the sixth studio album released in 2011 and was made freely available on internet to public under his own label Lucky Ali Entertainment. His debut album ‘Sunoh’ was an instant success and made him one of the popular names in the Indian pop scene. In 1996, he won Screen Awards and the Channel V Viewers' Choice Award in 1997 for his debut album in the category of the Best Pop Male Vocalist. For 60 weeks it was included on the MTV Asia Charts. "O SANAM", a song of the album is said to be one among the best Indian pop songs. He then also came up with other albums- Sifar (1998), Aks (2001), Gori Teri Aankhen Khahe (2001), Kabhi Aisa Lagta Hai (2004), Xsuie (2009) and Raasta Man (2011).

His music albums deal with themes which are very unique like the themes of freedom, loneliness, purposelessness, wanderings etc. With Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai, Lucky Ali entered the scene of Indian playback singing. He lent his voice to Hrithik Roshan, for the songs Na Tum Jaano Na Hum and Ek Pal Ka Jeena and won the Filmfare award for the best male playback singer for Na tum jaano na hum. He also sung other popular Bollywood hits such as- Hairat from Anjana Anjani, Khuda Hafiz from Yuva, Bekarar from Paathshala, Ahista Ahista from Bachna Ae Hasino, and others.

Having opened for Lucky Ali in the past as well the Mumbai based multi genre band Rang will kick-start the show at AWESTRUNG. Formed in the late 2008, the band has been performing across several venues in Mumbai and across the country. Their music attempts to bridge the gap between the diverse genres of music with melodies that represent the modern day music lovers interests, melted with an Indian element, thus bridging the gap between urban and the masses. Rang is a band which is known for unusual, spontaneous medleys, as well as crowd-thumping Classics. They have performed several of their critically acclaimed originals, which are recognized for their strong compositions and vocal melodies, interfused with some trademark crowd thumping mainstream covers of artists such as Junoon, AR Rahman, Euphoria, Shankar Ehsaan & Loy, Shubha Mudgal and Amit Trivedi.

On hosting Lucky Ali at Awestrung, Mr. Rajendra Kalkar, President (West), The Phoenix Mills, said, “We are glad to see that the platform of Awestrung is growing month over month.
