‘Cool Japan Festival’ returns to Mumbai at High Street Phoenix, Mumbai from 17 to 19 January 2014
As the path breaking association between Maido Enterprises Pvt.Ltd., (maidoindia) and High Street Phoenix continues and sets new milestones in bringing Japan closer to India, Mumbai will witness the third edition of the super successful Japanese culture & cuisine event: The ‘Cool Japan Festival’ from 17th to 19th January 2014.
This season at the Cool Japan Festival is all about new surprises, more brands from Japan and much more excitement to the celebrations at the Courtyard of High Street Phoenix.
Known as the biggest Japanese event of India, ‘Cool Japan Festival’ drew over 100,000 footfalls in its second year and witnessed participation from several Japanese companies during the event. This year, the festivities will be more interesting as patrons get to participate in a lot of exciting activities.
The festival shall host cultural performances including Taiko by Tenko; an ancient Japanese form of percussion using large drums played by artists in special costumes, Enka by Chadha san; a popular Japanese music genre considered to resemble traditional Japanese music stylistically, Awa Odori by Takarabune; one of the most well-known Japanese traditional dances with four hundred years of history, J-POP by Prizzmy; an abbreviation for Japanese pop which is a musical genre that entered the musical mainstream of Japan in the 1990s and Anime performances by MAC; Cosplay, Anime songs, dances, fashion shows in association with the Mumbai Anime Club.
One of the main attractions of Cool Japan Festival 2014 will be the Japanese street food festival – Washoku, presented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, Government of Japan.
The participating food brands include Hakubaku, Kikkoman, Kirin Soft Beverages, Yoshinoya Restaurants, Hanamaru Restaurants, Tokyo Sushi Academy, GRA Strawberries, Sushi & more. This year Washoku will offer Mumbaikars a taste of Japan with Sushi (Veg and Non-veg), Chicken Donburi, Yakitori Chicken skewers and Udon Noodles (Veg and Non-Veg) for only Rs.150 each.
Visitors can also experience and buy Japanese products from the many stalls that will be displaying unique Japanese products from Panasonic, Dental Pro, Been There Done That, Three Smiles Inc.these products include home appliances, dental products, stationery, food & drinks.

Moreover, through this event, I am looking forward for furthering friendship between Japan and India” commented Mr. Kiyoshi Asako, Consul General of Japan in Mumbai.
