SHRIYA SOM SHOWCASED AN ENCHANTING BOTANICAL LINE AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2017

Hyderabad based designer Shriya Bhupal emerged as a young successful couturier in a short period of time because of her eye for skill and technicality.

The designer translated the passion for art and nature through highly distinguished pieces that were carefully crafted and displayed at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017. The collection ‘Vignette Vista’ from her label ‘Shriya Som’, narrated a tale of wilderness with elegance that was suave, which was clearly visible in the detailed presentation.

Complex cutwork techniques developed into intricate lace that was carefully constructed created a vintage poetical vibe. The garments were conventional yet trendy; and ranged from body-con creations, shifts, and midi dresses with ruffle detail to cropped top, power suits, exaggerated gowns, power-shoulder top teamed with a fish tail skirt, faux fur jackets. This labour of love was developed with sheer silk and tulle fabrics that are known for their feminine and gentle appeal.

Experimentation in pastel hues was seen with the use of ivory, blush pink and tones of grey to bring the attires alive. Feathers incorporated with bugle and minute beads, stones, sequins, crystals and fine silk thread composed exquisite and exaggerated motifs served as the soul of this ingenious composition.

The inner layer of the ensembles was intelligently tailored to back the larger than life floral canvas, painstakingly put together to narrate this exclusive tale.  The faux Guipure lace effect was achieved with imaginative embroidery to highlight the collection.

Strong silhouettes adorned the fragile embroidery in multiple patterns and techniques that depicted a unique balance of comfort with style.

Bollywood actress Diana Penty looked radiantly stunning as she strutted down the ramp in a structured, ball-room worthy, floral, ivory gown with intricate detail.

Shriya Bhupal convincingly portrayed the efflorescent affair with her collection ‘Vignette Vistas’ on the runway and left the audience ecstatic and amazed at the same time.

SONAAKSHI RAAJ CREATED MAGIC ON THE RAMP WITH HER ‘SKIN’ COLLECTION AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2017

A Sonaakshi Raaj Collection spells ultra-glam looks on the ramp and the designer’s latest offering ‘Skin’ at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017 was just that.

The show opened with Indian singer and multi-instrumentalist Raghav Sachar who performed some foot-tapping songs and grooved around the models with music that elevated the mood on the runway with soulful trumpet melodies.

It was a modern yet slightly whimsical look as Sonaakshi presented a peep show with the very unconventionally embellished PVC.  This unique concept had the designer’s grace and elegance along with needlecraft shimmer that Sonaakshi is known for. The seductive drapes wove magic around the graceful models’ figures as tulle, blended georgette; fringing and ornate embellishments were the cynosure of the garments.

Using PVC in a truly innovative style, Sonaakshi ensured that the ‘Skin’ collection was a mélange of various genres of fashion. Moving from street wear to high fashion accents, the ensembles were ideal for all style setters.

Making a strong fashion statement on the catwalk was the one-shoulder, black asymmetric drape teamed wonderfully with a white corset and tantalizing sheer yoke. But the all-black dhoti inspired sari with a matching cropped blouse offered a PVC peep show at the hem. Grecian drama appeared for the one-sleeved asymmetric white pant/gown while dazzle was the focal point for the off-shoulder sleek maxi with floor length cape sleeves.

Semi sheer, embellished power suit, embroidered duster coat, well-fitted mini dress with a long back trail. Sonaakshi displayed a line that had the perfect balance between structured and flowing silhouettes effortlessly. The colour palette spoke glamour, from rose gold, crimson to champagne, smoke grey and charcoal black.

Showstopper Pooja Hegde, glamorous Bollywood star walked the ramp in an embellished gold jumpsuit with a trail, looking like an absolute diva while doing it.

There is no doubt that fashionistas will definitely want to get under Sonaakshi Raaj’s ‘Skin’ collection as it will add several notches to their style quotient.

MONICA AND KARISHMA OF AMOH BY JADE, SHOWCASED THE FLAMBOYANT RETRO ‘AIYANA’ COLLECTION AT LAKMÉ FASHION WEEK WINTER/FESTIVE 2017

JADE, the contemporary couture house has emerged because of its modern, yet, conventional aesthetics under the design directions of Monica and Karishma who are the visionaries behind this successful label that has achieved a renowned status in a short period of time.

At Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2017, ‘Aiyana’ (ever blooming) presented by Amoh by Jade was their take on reviving the cult fashion of the 60’s and 70’s eras, with a rather inventive approach in terms of construction and presentation.

Pop- culture, youth icon, Ananya Birla took the stage, while sporting a look from the collection and performed her hit number ‘Meant to Be’ alongside the models and received the loudest cheer from the crowd.

Bollywood debutant Nidhhi Agerwal of ‘Munna Michael’ fame opened the show in a powder blue lehenga with a backless cropped blouse and pleasantly surprised the audience.

The silhouettes ranged from well-tailored corsets and capes to floor length sheer jackets with scallop detail teamed with flared skirts and inventive drapes with cowl detailing. The bold palette consisting of tangerine, royal blue, ox-blood, mauve, chestnut, bottle green and a hint of gold elevated the collection.

The ensembles were delicately ornamented with beads, stones in intricate patterns and motifs, which highlighted the regal essence of the sharply conceived line. The sustainable fabrics were used to create these majestic attires with added textures (ruffles, pleats) that enhanced the oomph factor.

The idea behind this intelligently executed line was to break-through the sheltered and restricted fashion norms and recreate the fearless/edgy vibes from the yesteryears that was forgotten in today’s accelerated lifestyle.

Monica and Karishma of Jade portrayed the various layers of a woman’s personality, defining her flaws and depth with grace and artistry through their extremely innovative pieces for their collection ‘Aiyana’.

The look for the shows created by Lakmé Makeup Expert, Donald Simrock was all about highlighting. The new technique used to highlight the skin indeed shone throughout the show.
